CURE: The NoRagging Group
Coalition to Uproot Ragging from Education

You can find more about who we are by looking at the following. Of course, in case you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at cure@noragging.com

CURE Principle:
CURE is against the practice of non-consensual raging in any form viz. physical or mental, nevertheless encouraging healthy interaction between the freshers and their seniors.

The Organisation

The following people (in surname alphabetical order) from CURE Central are the only authorised spokespersons for CURE.

  • Harsh Agarwal (harsh.agarwal@noragging.com) has worked with several leading National and International organisations, including the United Nations both in India and abroad. He has worked closely with young people from more than 40 different countries which has given him a deep understanding of different cultures, societies, human behaviour, forms of interaction etc. Having himself faced severe ragging at M.L.N. Medical College at Allahabad in 2000, he rallied around various Government of India Ministries and offices including the NHRC for justice. His two years of struggle against the system is perhaps the longest battle fought by any ragging victim in the country and has been acknowledged in a book titled "The Avatar Way of Leadership" authored by Harsh Verma and Published by Rupa & Co. He has been associated with CURE since 2002 and is actively involved in its research and advocacy, writing articles, giving presentations, media management etc.

  • Varun Aggarwal (varun.aggarwal@noragging.com) is a PhD candidate in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. Apart from his interest in science and technology, he shares a deep passion for social upliftment. He is with CURE since 2001 and written various articles, editted CURE newsletters, moderated panels, given talks on ragging, etc. for CURE. He is also the founder of MIT India Reading Group (2006-). He writes on education in India, history of technology and teaches an informal (0 credit) course on Hinduism during IAP at MIT. [Personal Homepage]

  • Mohit Garg (mohit.garg@noragging.com) graduated from IIT Bombay in 2005 with a Dual Degree (M.Tech + B.Tech) in Electrical Engineering where he was awarded the Institute Gold and Silver Medals. He has been with CURE since 2001, has written research articles, participated in talk shows and compiled reports for CURE. He is also the chief webmaster and has designed several versions of the CURE website. He was a part of several community intiatives during college days and is always keen to discuss and contribute to social initiatives. He is interested in issues related to the environment, poverty alleviation and human rights. [Personal Homepage]

CURE was started by two students in the year 2001 under the banner of The NoRagging Group. We started with a Discussion group, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/noragging and an informative website, www.noragging.allhere.com. From that time, we have come a long way and today we aspire to mature to an independent soon.

Come, be a part of it... contribute your time and effort. A small step taken by you could mean a giant leap in the spreading the message. This is what one person had to say after coming in contact with CURE through one activity of ours...

"the site has changed my perception of ragging.i was the kind of person who was actively taking part in this personality development program(PDP) or wat u call as RAGGING.i used to think that ragging is an essential part of the college curricula and should be legalised.and carrying it out was my prime duty as a senior .though here i would like to mention that my kind of ragging used be totally harmless(as far as i used to think), no physical and sexual abuse was done but yeah verbal abuse to some extent.i thought that though it is a mental agony to the juniors but it prepares them to face the much more rude world outside. after checking out ur site and after reading those cases my perspective has changed or i hve undergone  a paradigm shift. i hve stopped carrying out ragging and have started treating my juniors with respect and an elderly love.i have also discouraged it among my friends though i became the butt of their jokes. still... i wish all the members of cure a very gud luck for their future activities and thanks for making me realize my mistakes."

CURE is a non-profit organisation dedicated solely towards the elimination of ragging and promotion of more positive ways of interaction among seniors and freshers in Indian universities.
